Fellow Creatures is an adaptable project with fluid line-ups built around collaboration of like-minded and creative souls combining a strong sense of groove, driving energy with atmospheric textures and contrapuntal rhythms.

First release entitled ‘Fellow Creatures’ (2016) features: Mark Lockheart (saxes), Laura Jurd (trumpet and flugel), Will Barry (piano) and Corrie Dick (drums and percussion). The writing is inspired by a brilliant book by Canadian author Naomi Klein called, ‘This Changes Everything’. The book discusses what we have to do to make sure that we don’t devour this beautiful planet, along with all it’s natural resources. How can we seize this environmental crisis and transform our failed economic system to built something radically better for everyone.

Next instalment will include a recording of selected Phronesis songs arranged by Alex Hitchcock for a new lineup including: Alex Hitchcock (sax), Ketija Ringa Karahona (flute), Saied Silbak (oud), Xavi Torres (piano) and Luca Caruso (drums).

jasper høiby’s planet b

Whilst there are many moments that display the virtuosity and hard-hitting grooves of Phronesis, the long-standing band that shot Jasper to the limelight, Planet B offers additional rewards of subtle expression. The music is captivating and highly absorbing, enhanced by soundscapes of electronics and interspersed with powerful, emotive speech by some unique and forward-thinking women including Grace Lee Boggs, Ruby Sales and Jane Goodall. They all share a profound understanding of the world, only achievable through practical wisdom, each offering their individual take on where we are as a species and what we can do to improve.

At the heart of the album is the trio. A group of like-minded and creative souls where the focus is all about the collective sound. As a whole, the music is a powerful, mesmerising and poignant display of musicianship, integrity and storytelling. What it Means To Be Human is an album at the forefront of the creative European scene.

Lineup includes: Josh Arcoleo (sax) and Marc Michel (drums).
